Web-seminar: "German Technology for India Food Processing Industry"

It is common knowledge that Indian sweets are relished all over the world. Several countries import sweets from India and they have a large local demand as well, especially during the festive season. We often don’t realise that for these sweets to be manufactured on a large scale, several machines, processes and technologies are utilised to meet the demand and keep quality consistent.

We were privileged to have esteem speakers joining us for this interactive and informative session:

The session was moderated by Mr. Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, VDMA India Services Pvt Ltd as well as Mr. Firoz Naqvi, Director, FSNM.
Mr. Raghav Gupta started things off by giving the panellists and viewers an overview of the food processing industry in India, which grows at a steady 10% CAGR estimated till 2023. He also mentioned that Kanchan Metals works with 3 VDMA member companies; VeMag, Diosna and Walterwerk. Mr. Gupta further elaborated on the wide use of food processing machinery for several categories of sweets and Namkeen manufactured in India.
Mr. Nirav Sampat then took over and spoke about the various processes in manufacturing and he delved deeply in the stages of production that his machines go through. He also emphasised on how automation plays a key role in the entire process.
We then had Mr. Bipin Jirge, who spoke about applications of sensor systems such as print mark detection, cycle time and speed monitoring, position detection, detection of QR codes and finally he elaborated on the monitoring of safety doors in the machine systems IFM Electronic manufactures.
Finally, we had Mr. Pradeep David, who spoke about how the SMEs today are adopting COBOTs (Collaborative Robots). He elaborated on the benefits of the use of Cobots which are; Effective social distancing, partial automation, quick deployment and redeployment on shop floors and a more democratised method of automation. Moreover, he shed light on Industrie 4.0 and how Cobot adoption will propel Indian companies to move towards this industrial revolution.
Mr. Firoz Naqvi then moderated a panel discussion by posing questions from the Sweets and Namkeen industry to the panellists about the functioning of new technology so that this industry can start moving towards a technological revolution in order to compete on a global level.
Mr. Nath then took the questions posed by the attendees which were answered by the speakers very eloquently and finally concluded the interactive session and he conveyed his best wishes to all the esteemed speakers and attendees from the industry to continue their operations SAFELY.
