VDMA: Mechanical engineering industry supports corona decisions

The mechanical and plant engineering industry supports the latest pandemic decisions to fight the pandemic. The companies continue to accept their responsibility to help combat the infection. A general closure of industrial production would have been the wrong way to go.

Commenting on the stricter corona measures adopted by the federal and state governments, VDMA President Karl Haeusgen says:

"The mechanical and plant engineering sector, which is dominated by medium-sized companies, supports the recent decisions of the federal and state governments to combat the pandemic. Under the new circumstances as well, companies are accepting their responsibility in the fight against the infection. A general shutdown of industrial production would have been the wrong way to go and would cause considerable consequential damage to the economy as a whole and risks to security of supply. With their hygiene concepts, the companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector ensure that contacts in the operating facilities are reduced to a minimum. In addition, home office possibilities should be expanded again and seasonal plant closures should be extended wherever possible".
