2020 collective bargaining round: there can be no guarantee of jobs
The waiver of a charge alone is not sufficient to help the companies.
Commenting on the IG Metall Executive Board's recommendation for demands in the upcoming collective bargaining round in the metal and electrical industry, VDMA Executive Director Thilo Brodtmann said:
"The waiver of a pay claim is an important contribution by IG Metall to helping companies in economically difficult times. But it is not enough on its own to preserve as many jobs as possible. After all, other claims can also place an excessive burden on companies.
The general renunciation of burdensome demands would be a constructive contribution of the trade unions to securing employment.
This is particularly true for those companies that are particularly affected by global trade conflicts. The general renunciation of burdensome demands would be a constructive contribution of the trade unions to securing employment, especially since there can be no general job guarantee due to the tense situation".
