India Day at Hannover Messe 2019
On eve of this occasion, VDMA India organised "India Day" once again in the Forum Motion & Drive in the morning session on 4th April 2019 comprising presentation and panel discussion. The objective of the program was to project India as huge market and investment destination for investments in the Heavy Engineering and Power Control and Transmission technologies and also to inform the audience on regulatory and tax reforms toward ease of doing business undertaken by the Indian government. It also aimed to provide a platform for sharing experience from both the countries of the doing business in India
After five action-packed days from 1-5th April 2019 of industrial innovation, dynamic networking and lead generation, HANNOVER MESSE 2019 – the world’s leading trade fair for industrial technology – drew to a close, to rave reviews by exhibitors and visitors. Led by Sweden, the partner country, more than 160 companies from Scandinavian countries participated in the trade show. The show placed major emphasis on the digitization of manufacturing, as well as on human-machine collaboration, 5G, innovative and intelligent energy systems, machine learning, and Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence – topics which pulled in the crowds. 6,500 exhibitors from 70 countries, more than 215,000 trade visitors – 40% of whom came from outside Germany used HANNOVER MESSE to catch up on the latest technologies and make key investment decisions.
India is thriving with opportunities in industrial value chain and manufacturing of Heavy engineering sector. The ‘Integrated Automation Motion Drive” (IAMD) forum which includes Fluid power, mechanical power transmissions automation and control systems’ are amongst the most important areas defining the efficiency of the heavy engineering and manufacturing sector. Thus, recognizing the much needed value addition and technology upgradation, skill development and focus on enhancing manufacturing partnerships between India and Germany.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, VDMA India welcomed the audience and made presentation on Indo-German bilateral trade in engineering sector.
In his key note address, Mr. Madan L. RAIGAR, Indian Consul General, the Chief Guest of event enlightened the audience on “Towards 5 Trillion Dollar Economy – Initiative from the Government”.
The panel discussion on Towards 5 Trillion Dollar Economy – Contribution of Manufacturing in India” moderated by Mr. Nath, followed immediately after the inaugural session. The high level panellist were Mr.Christian H. Kienzle, CEO, ARGO-HYTOS Group Dr.DishantMahendru, Director, Honeycomb Global Ltd; Mr. R Ramesh, Executive Director, JANATICS India Pvt Ltd; Mr. Ravi Agarwal, Managing Director, Pepperl+Fuchs Factory Automation Pvt. Ltd andMr. Harsha Kadam, President-Industry, Schaeffler India Ltd.
The panellist unanimously echoed the importance of achieving 25% share of manufacturing sector to the GDP from present 16% by 2022.
Mr. Rahul Oza, Partner, Roedl& Partner, the last speaker of the “India day” enthralled the audience with a detailed presentation on “MODIfied India – Status quo of regulatory changes and expectations”.
More than 50 participants from both Indian and German companies attended the event. Speakers, panellist and audience lauded the sustained effort of the VDMA India to bring Indo-German business relation in engineering sector at a greater height.
Apart from India Day, various parallel technical session within Forum Motion & Drive, on topics like Future Business, Sustainability & Energy Efficiency, Predictive Maintenance and Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Condition Monitoring Systems, Rolling bearings was organised by VDMA Germany on all the 5 days where the eminent speakers from VDMA member companies and academician from leading research institute enlightened the audience with insight of the industry, latest trends, key challenges and technological upgradation in the related field.
