The production of machinery and equipment in Germany in the second quarter of this year amounted to around 56 billion euros. This represents a small increase of 0.6 percent on the previous year. In the first quarter of 2019, production increased by 3.9 percent.
In the second quarter of 2019, real machine production fell sharply year-on-year (-2.9%) - in the first quarter there was still slight growth (0.3%). According to preliminary calculations, a cumulative decline in production (-0.9%) was also recorded in the first seven months.
The Federal Statistical Office has been evaluating the monthly production of 95 sub-units in mechanical engineering for a year now. 39 sub-aggregates show growth year-on-year, 41 a decline. The remaining aggregates are not comparable due to secrecy and nomenclature changes.
