The federal and state governments have found a reasonable compromise for the climate package.

VDMA President Carl Martin Welcker comments on the agreement between the Federal Government and the Länder in the dispute over the climate package:

"The Federal Government and the Länder have found a reasonable compromise for the climate package that has sensible, market-oriented cornerstones. It is right to price CO2 in such a way that it has a steering effect; it is also right to relieve companies and citizens by reducing the EEG levy. In the longer term, the myriad historical burdens on energy sources must also be converted into a functioning price mechanism that is neutral in terms of revenue".
